Singapore, officially the Republic of Singapore, is a place I’ve visited many times and is a great stepping stone to exploring Southeast Asia. Singapore’s Changi Airport is currently rated the ‘World’s Best Airport’ by Skytrax, for the seventh consecutive year since 2013.

Though only a small country geographically, Singapore is an economic giant which has been Southeast Asia’s most modern city for over a century. A global hub for education, entertainment, finance, healthcare, innovation, logistics, manufacturing, technology, tourism, trade and transport.

Initially a British trading post the country includes the island of Singapore and 58 or so smaller islands. The capital city, also called Singapore, covers about a third of the area of the main island. Blending Malay, Chinese, Arab, Indian and English cultures and religions, Singapore’s unique ethnic tapestry offers visitors a wide array of festivals, sightseeing and culinary opportunities to choose from.

Singapore is famous for luxury hotels, delicious cuisine and great shopping. It’s excellent infrastructure, safe, clean and green environment, tropical climate and state-of-the-art attractions make it an ideal destination for both leisure and business travellers all year round.

Once considered a “stop over” on the way to larger Asian cities, the city-state of Singapore is now a destination in it’s own right.
