The Kingdom of Cambodia or Kampuchea is a must visit place for travellers worldwide. As the temple hub of the world you will be awed by it’s history and majesty.
Emerging from a troubled past Cambodia is fast becoming a vibrant and exciting tourist travel destination. Offering an opportunity to step back into ancient history, get off the beaten track into lush rural countryside and to immerse yourself in a kind and charming culture influenced by Theravada Buddhism, which is practiced by the bulk of its population.
The impressive, ancient temple of Angkor Wat stands proudly as a symbol of Cambodia and a testimony to the power of the Khmer kingdom, which peaked during the 11th century.
Travel is cheap in Cambodia and you can sleep reasonably comfortably and eat well on a tight budget. As a developing country major infrastructure is still deficient which can make transport, healthcare and basic luxuries sparse but it’s more than made up for in unspoiled mountainous forests, ornate stone temples, idyllic islands and unspoilt beaches.
I only had a fleeting visit to Cambodia but can’t wait to get back to explore more of this intriguing and captivating nation.
